Palisade Hair Design is a family owned business established in 1999 by Raysa De La Cruz Franco and Julio Franco. It's located at 25 Palisade Ave in Yonkers, NY 10701 close to the Getty Square area. Raysa had aspirations of being a professional basketball player. She was an all-star at Matin Luther King High School in NYC and received a scholarship to attend the University of North Carolina. Her plans were derailed because of a serious leg injury, and she decided to go to Canton State University of New York in Canton, NY . She attended College but because of a pregnancy she was forced to drop out of school. She needed a means to take care of her soon to be born child so in 1994 she decided that the hair salon industry would be her career path, so she enrolled in John Lewis a hair design school where she received her degree in 7 months . She choose this path because it was something she loved as a child due to the fact that many of her relatives in Santo Domingo were  in the business. She also had some experience in the business in that in college in order to earn extra money she would work on clients hair. She would do things like blow drying  and putting relaxers on client's hair. On the other hand, Julio Franco had aspiration of making it big in the business industry. In 1992 he received a 2 year business degree from Westchester Community College in Valhalla, NY and landed a job in the city of Purchase, NY  selling annuities. The company even agreed to pay for him to continue his education. He was on his way, but he had to continue his studies and had to put his time at work  in order to succeed. He was very eager to succeed but felt it would take to long for him to accomplish his goals. He need it a quicker way to succeed and decided the hair salon industry would be a quicker route. He was familiar with the industry because of his mom who owns "Palisades Hair Designers" in Yonkers and at the time owned 2 hair salons. He noticed the great success her mom had achieved through hard work and dedication, and thought he could also achieve that level of success at the fraction of the time it would take in the annuities world, so eventually  he left the business world and in 1995 he had his licence and certification from John Lewis beauty school .It was the same school Raysa graduate from in 1994. The two would meet in 1994 when Raysa starting working in Palisade's  Hairstylist in Yonkers, NY which was a salon owned by Julio's mom.They soon developed a romantic relationship and by 1996 they were both focused on their career in the hair salon industry while working for Julio's mom. They built a great reputation, and created a significant clientele in the South Yonkers in a short period of time In 1999, after mastering their craft and understanding the business they decided to buy "Palisade Hair Designers" as a joint venture from Julio's mom who was looking for a buyer. In 2012 they got married and their son Aaron Franco joined the team in 2012.
